My name is Dr. Andrew Karas, and I am excited to introduce myself to the University Scholars and the Northeastern community as the new Associate Director of the program. I am thrilled to join such an exciting, energetic, talented group of people, and I look forward to getting to know all of you over the coming months.
I come to Northeastern by way of Philadelphia, where I worked as an Associate Director at the University of Pennsylvania’s Career Services office. However, I am no stranger to Boston, having both attended and taught at a certain competitor for the Beanpot across the river in Cambridge. I love this city, and I look forward to enjoying its cultural richness and distinct character through the many outlets for community engagement available to the University Scholars. My teaching experience, meanwhile, has mostly been in introductory writing seminars, which, paired with my time in career services, means that I have a lot of experience working one-on-one with bright, ambitious students, helping them set and achieve goals and make the most of their experiences.
When I’m not spending time with University Scholars, I’m usually with my beagle, Perdita, and I’m an avid foodie and baker, as well. Please stop by my office to introduce yourself. I look forward to meeting you!
