Plum Organics is a certified B Corporation that sells organic, non-GMO baby food. The company was founded “by parents, for parents” in 2007 to appeal to the growing demand for more natural and nutritional baby food products. Like many socially conscious businesses today, Plum Organics has adopted a “buy one give one” business model.
Over 14 million children in America live in poverty, of which 13.1 million are food insecure, or lack access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food. Studies prove that malnutrition in children leads to a plethora of problems – nutrition-related diseases, higher probability of illness and hospitalization, developmental delays, and more. Recognizing the severity of food insecurity amongst U.S. children, Plum Organics came up with a plan to tackle the issue.
Through The Full Effect, the company’s giveback program, over 21 million nutritious meals have been donated to children in need. Plum Organics partners with local nonprofits like Convoy of Hope and Conscious Alliance to distribute free meals to children who don’t have access. Plum Organics is also aware of the devastating toll natural disasters have on food access around the country – when disaster strikes, the company leverages their partners to ensure food is delivered to areas most heavily impacted. Plum Organics stays true to its mission, striving to provide nutritious food to children across the nation.
