Bixbee is a certified B Corp that’s determined to use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems. They follow a “One Here. One There.” model, equivalent to a BOGO model, that lets them collaborate with non-profits that provide disadvantaged children with access to education. Bixbee, founded by Luis Garcia in 2011, is based in California. Luis was propelled to create his socially conscious company to meet the needs of children without resources to education. Thus, for every backpack sold in the consumer market, a child in need will receive one full of school supplies.
The impact of Bixbee goes beyond donating backpacks and supplies. Bixbee partners with nonprofits that are local to an area and can produce the backpacks using local raw materials. They also employ community members, strengthening their local economies and empowering members to foster change for themselves. Bixbee has worked with communities in Rwanda, Haiti, Thailand, India, and the Philippines. They are a perfect example of a successful organization focused on creating positive social impact.
For Bixbee’s regular consumers, unique backpacks are designed for children in bold colors and animal prints. They create great value for a child, giving them more than just a simple backpack, but potentially the accessory to transform into a rocket ship. These fun designs have built a successful company and implemented change in at-risk communities.
