Day 24: A Grietas Way to Start the Day
Do you know what day today is?
It’s Olivia’s birthday!!
Which Olivia?
Both Olivias!!
Well, it’s Olivia A’s birthday today and Olivia M’s birthday tomorrow.
Happy birthday Olivias!!
Today was our last day in Santa Cruz. In the morning we went to las Grietas.
It’s this opening between two tall cliffs filled with water and the perfect place for a morning swim. We jumped into the water one after another and swam to
the end, climbing over a bunch of mossy rocks in the process. There were a lot of people snorkeling there, but we jut went for a swim. When we got to the end, a couple of us decided to climb the rocks and jump in. It was the perfect way to start the morning.
For the afternoon a lot of us went our own way to work on our drawing assignment (a one hour drawing of something we see as a metaphor). Lance and I went back on the path of the turtle breeding center in search of inspiration and ended up at a small beach. While he was drawing two little girls came up to see what was going on and asked him to draw them. After he finished they wanted to draw too so we gave them our sketchbooks and pens and let them take over. They ended up drawing a butterfly and hearts in our notebooks.
Tomorrow we have a 2 hour boat ride to Isabela and we’ve been warned it’s going to be a bumpy ride. We drained the supply of seasick medication from the pharmacy next door to our hotel in preparation. Hoping for the best. See you on the other side.
