Day 29: Back to Quito
Today was a travel day. I don’t think anybody particularly likes these days, but they’re necessary. At 8am we said a sad goodbye to Otavalo, my favorite city so far, and loaded bags laden with souvenirs onto the bus. The peak of Cayambe was visible as we drove away, a view that only rarely appeared and always takes my breath away. After an hour, we stopped for hot chocolate and biscuits on our way back to Quito. In Quito, we spend the entire day screening the videos we made for project 3. Although it took a long time to view all 18 video projects, it was worth it to see the way that each student interpreted the “nature as a metaphor” prompt.
After we got out, I got street food! I am too familiar with food poisoning on this trip and know that getting food off this street isn’t the best idea, but it’s always delicious!! 🙂 It’s the closet I can get to grabbing a slice of pizza during finals week. After today we have three days to complete a final video project, which is inevitably going to be a lot of work. But I know the final products will be great, so I can’t wait.
