Speaker: Rajendra Kumar Singh, PhD., Cofounder and Chief Scientific Officer at Hemera Biosciences Inc.

Rajendra Kumar Singh, PhD is a co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Hemera Biosciences Inc. and Professor of Ophthalmology and Neuroscience and the Director of the Program in Genetics at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. Rajendra has over 20 years of experience in retinal diseases and ocular gene therapy and is an internationally recognized expert having published over 60 peer-reviewed articles in high impact journals including Nature, Nature Genetics, American Journal of Human Genetics etc. He has an active research program in the development of viral and non-viral gene therapy vectors and is an inventor of multiple patented technologies in the area of gene therapy vectors, novel anti-complement molecules and their application in ocular diseases.

Rajendra’s research is funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH), The Department of Defense (TATRC), The Ellison Foundation and several other private foundations.  Previous honors include the Research to Prevent Blindness (RPB) Dolly Green Scholar, Career Development Award from RPB, Young Investigator Award from the Foundation Fighting Blindness (FFB), Vision Research Fellow at UCLA School of Medicine and the American Society of Human Genetics Postdoctoral Research Award. He has served on NIH study section review panels as well as review panels for the FFB and Wellcome Trust in the UK.
