“Remote Activation Strategies for Localized Drug Release from Lipid-based Nanoparticles”
Successful drug delivery by the nanoparticles in the clinic relies on their biocompatibility, in vivo stability, biodegradability, and/or on demand-triggered release properties. We are developing a series of multifunctional lipid-based nanoparticles (liposomes) to improve localized drug delivery to treat cancers. I will begin with a brief introduction to the challenges and barriers that pose limitations to the success in drug delivery field. I will allude to the principles of approaches for triggered release of drug from the liposomes. The main discussion will be centered on external triggering modalities including the hyperthermia and light-activation strategies. I will share some data on the following topics.
