External Affairs Committee

About the Committee:

The GSG External Affairs Committee is dedicated to fostering strong connections between graduate students and the broader Northeastern University community, including global campuses. This committee actively engages in initiatives that promote the GSG as a vital resource for students across all colleges. Through college orientations, the committee ensures that new students are well-informed about the GSG’s role and benefits.
The committee also spearheads efforts to unify Northeastern’s various campuses, such as Silicon Valley and Seattle, under a single network, aiming to build symbiotic relationships that enhance the student experience. Additionally, the committee collaborates with different colleges to host networking events, providing valuable opportunities for students to connect with peers, faculty, and industry professionals.
Moreover, the External Affairs Committee represents Northeastern University in the Boston Grad Federation (BGF), a student federation comprising major universities and colleges like Harvard, MIT, UMASS, BC, BU, and Tufts. The committee has played a pivotal role in building the BGF constitution and actively participates in its activities, serving as the voice for not only Northeastern graduate students but also for students from other universities, addressing shared concerns and advocating for collective student welfare.
