Congratulations to Sharon Harlan, Mariana Sarango, Elizabeth Mack, and Timothy Stephens for their recent publication in the journal Anthropocene, titled, “A survey-based assessment of perceived flood risk in urban areas of the United States.” Their work is based on a survey of 9,250 respondents as well as the FEMA regulatory floodplain geospatial database, and uses theory-based research about flood risk communications, behaviors, and perceptions, to underscore the need for more social and economic support for vulnerable populations.
