Register today for the 2019 First Annual Indigenous Resilience Event, hosted in collaboration with the Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion and the Native & Indigenous Affinity Group! Taking place on Thursday, October 3, this event centers on native people’s resilience through science, technology, and indigenous knowledges. Participants will be able to engage with this discussion in two separate opportunities occurring on this day:
A Gathering of Women in the Sciences, 10 AM to 11:30 AM at Wentworth Institute of Technology
This breakfast event, hosted by the Wentworth Institute of Technology’s Center for Diversity & Social Justice Programs (CDSJP) in conjunction with Northeastern University and Wentworth Institute of Technology’s women in technology student groups, celebrates women in the sciences. Participants will be able to engage in an informal conversation with Ranalda Tsosie, from the University of Montana, Ciarra Greene, from Portland State University, Dr. Grace Bulltail, Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and other area women who have made significant contributions to the study of science and technology. The event will also feature food by Sly Fox Den, which is known for its promotion of local Native American Food Traditions.
Indigenous Resilience Panel, 5:30 PM to 8 PM at the Museum of Fine Arts-Boston
The day of events continues with a panel conversation that centers on native people’s resilience through science, technology, and indigenous knowledges. Participants will be able to hear from speakers Ranalda Tsosie, an enrolled member of the Diné Nation, Dr. Grace Bulltail, member of the Crow Tribe and a descendant of the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Tribes of Fort Berthold, North Dakota, and Ciarra Greene, a citizen of the Nez Perce Tribe, about how they incorporate indigenous research methods, culture, and traditions into their work and understanding of the impact of technology on indigenous communities.
