The program manager introduces the program to new workers through a short toolbox talk at regularly scheduled safety orientations. Safety orientations are effective in reaching new workers and ensuring that all workers are familiarized with the program within their first few days on site.
- If your site does not hold regularly scheduled safety orientations, obtain names of new workers on a weekly basis, and introduce the program to these workers at an appropriate time.
The program can be initiated on a worksite at any point in the construction timeline; however, we recommend starting the program as close to the beginning of the project as possible. If the program is not introduced at the beginning of construction, we recommend holding a whole-site meeting (that can include a free lunch or coffee to promote attendance) to explain the program to workers.
