Reward and recognition
The site is eligible for a reward if the cumulative whole site safety assessment score meets or exceeds the pre-determined safety threshold after a set number of weekly assessments. We recommend setting this reward cycle at 1-2 months, with weekly safety assessments.
The program manager selects a reward that is a meaningful public recognition for outstanding safety performance, and that can serve as motivation for on-going program participation. We recommend a free lunch to recognize the hard work of the team, in addition to a raffle for a “high value” item such as a monthly parking pass at a lot near the work-site.
Foremen are also recognized during the lunch with certificates that distinguish their role in leading a team of workers who have maintained high standards of safety. A copy of these certificates can be sent to the foreman’s company office, to officially recognize their -and the entire team’s- commitment to on-site safety.
Evaluation cycle repeats
After the reward and recognition are provided, the assessment cycle repeats.
