Panel Discussion: Identity, Race and Class in the Caribbean Diaspora with Yndia S. Lorick-Wilmot, PhD

Yndia S. Lorick-Wilmot, PhD, Scholar-in-Residence at the John D. O’Bryant African American Institute, Northeastern University will talk about her new book, Stories of Identity Among Black, Middle Class Second Generation Caribbeans: We, Too, Sing America (Palgrave Macmillan/Springer, 2017).
Based on rich ethnography and narrative analysis, Dr. Lorick-Wilmot, along with panelists, will share observations about the identity experiences of middle class Black Caribbean Americans, explore the significance of capturing intersections of race, class and gender through Black ethnic identity narratives, and discuss its implications for scholarship and contemporary race relations.
