Shawn Cogan '10Shawn always found himself very interested in science courses and came to NU as a biology major. After being exposed to behavioral neuroscience, Shawn knew that he wanted to pursue to pursue the field of neuroscience. Medical University of South Carolina
The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is the oldest medical school in the South, and one of the oldest in the country. One of the major areas of focus for MUSC is in cardiothoracic surgery and cardiovascular disease in general. Its partnership with the Northeastern University Cooperative Education Program began through the efforts of Francis G. Spinale, MD, PhD (Northeastern Class of 1979) who is the Director of the Cardiothoracic Research Program at MUSC.

(Co-op) is a distinctive form of experiential education in which students alternate periods of academic study with periods of paid work experience.
Students at Northeastern University with Life Science majors may earn experiential education credit when they successfully complete the following components of the Cooperative education learning model:
