David Ben-Zvi

Abstract:   The local Langlands philosophy describes an intimate relation between the complex representation theory of reductive groups over local fields and the complex geometry of the Langlands dual group. I will discuss two new forms of this duality for complex Lie groups developed in joint work with David Nadler, the first involving Harish-Chandra modules and braid groups and the second involving Lusztig's character sheaves for complex groups. The main ingredients are ideas from the geometric Langlands program, topological field theory, and derived algebraic geometry.

Here are some directions to Northeastern University. Lake Hall and Nightingale Hall can be best accessed from the entrance on the corner of Greenleaf Street and Leon Street. The two halls are connected, with no well-defined boundary in between. In particular, 509 Lake Hall is on the same corridor as 544 Nightingale Hall.

There is free parking available for people coming to the Colloquium at Northeastern's visitor parking (Rennaisance Garage). The entrance is from Columbus Avenue.
