Abstract:   In the Atlas project we are using computers to help solve a fundamental problem in representation theory: classifying the irreducible unitary representations of a real Lie group. Another primary goal is to develop software to make the study of structure theory and representation theory of Lie groups more accessible. I will report on the progress of the project, including our our recent computation of Kazhdan-Lusztig-Vogan polynomials for E_8.
