Global Learning

The leader in global experience

Northeastern’s experiential model offers a worldwide network of learning partners in 52 nations and 96 cities: corporations, NGOs, governmental agencies, and universities. You won’t just see the world; you’ll shape it through unmatched opportunities for professional experience, research, and community service, as well as academic study.

In addition to traditional study-abroad programs, you may choose to participate in our unique Dialogue of Civilizations which are faculty-led programs where students travel in small groups to meet with colleagues from their academic or professional background.

You also have the opportunity to complete co-op periods abroad, working with a variety of multinational companies including Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong, Bristol-Meyers Squibb in Greece, Two Oceans Aquarium in South Africa, Geneva Center for Security Policy and a host of non-profits including hospitals, orphanages and famine relief organizations.

Some students are also completing degree programs which require immersion experience – such as our highly ranked Bachelor of Science in International Business (BSIB).

To prepare for these experiences, the World Language Center offers classes in over 15 languages and the Office of International Co-op is a resource for students who may be interested in pursuing an internationally-based position.

These opportunities give our students the chance to immerse themselves in the language, culture, history and academic environment to acquire the access and skills to succeed in the new global economy.

The Presidential Global Scholars support outstanding students seeking international co-op opportunities. Through competitively awarded grants, up to 200 qualifying students each year become Global Scholars. Out of this group, a select number earn the designation Presidential Global Fellow.
