Experiential Learning

Cooperative Education

Now in its 100th year at Northeastern University, the world’s most innovative cooperative education program is well positioned to prepare students for the global challenges of the next 100 years. Since its founding in 1909, our co-op program has always evolved to meet the changing needs of our students and our world. Today, co-op, integrated with classroom studies, enables our students to make an impact in the world—before they graduate. In the next century, we will continue to develop co-op’s global potential, and continue to empower our students to navigate the unknown.

Making Experiential Learning Work For You
When it comes to a college education, Northeastern understands that one size does not fit all. That’s why we offer the flexibility to pursue co-op and other experiential opportunities in a way that fits your education goals. Whether you choose a four-year or five-year option, you’ll be able to tailor your academic plan to meet your needs. And, no matter what path you take, you can count on the fact that your experiences will seamlessly weave together with rigorous academics, your global perspectives will expand, and you’ll graduate with a distinctive edge that puts you ahead of your peers in your field.

Tuition and other costs depend on your pattern of attendance. Whether you choose four of five years for your undergraduate degree, you will only pay tuition for in-class terms. You may elect up to 18 months of experience, which are considered non-tuition terms. If you choose to live on campus during these periods you will be responsible for room and board charges.
