Campus Life

Housing & Dining

As a freshman, your home will likely be one of 10 coed residence halls or living learning communities with other students who share similar academic or lifestyle interests. Upper class students have the chance to live in one of our newer apartment complexes, many of which offer spectacular Boston views.

Northeastern is a great place to call home.

Housing

Residence Halls
Housing is guaranteed for all freshman students through middler (third) year. Most new students will share a room with one or two other students in traditional, coed residence halls that house between 75 and 500 students. Two of the larger halls each offer a dining hall and common study areas.

Apartment Complexes
Apartment complexes at 780 Columbus, Loftman Hall, Davenport Commons, and West Village G and H are open to upper-class students.

Off-Campus Services
Students who do not live in University housing are considered to be off-campus students. Off-Campus Services offers information, resources, and materials regarding off-campus student living issues.

Services include the following:

  • Apartment listings
  • Area realtor list
  • Furnishing information
  • Helpful Web sites
  • Hostels and hotels information
  • MBTA bus, subway, and commuter-rail schedules
  • Moving and storage company information
  • Programs and events
  • Tenant and landlord rights

Dining

Meal plans at Northeastern allow you to choose between a variety of dining halls and Out Takes, which offers great meals to go. You'll find an array of choices, including brick-oven pizza, stir-fry, pasta, and salads. A kosher meal plan is also available. Two campus grocery stores allow you to stock up on fresh ingredients. For fast food, visit the Curry Student Center food court where you'll find favorites such as:

  • Wendy's
  • Starbucks
  • Freshen Smoothies
  • Taco Bell and Pizza Hut Express

All new students living on campus are required to participate in the Resident Dining Meal Plan. Freshmen and transfers are automatically assigned to a 15-meal plan although other arrangements can be made after arrival on campus. Commuter students and those students living in campus apartments may also participate in any traditional meal plan or the profiler plan.

Living Learning Community

What is a Living Learning community?

It is a floor, a section of a residence hall, or an entire hall devoted to first-year students, with the exception of the Honors Learning Community, who share a particular academic interest or theme.

These are a great way to meet like-minded students. Residents participate in academic and social programs tailored to their specific majors and interests. Space is limited and placement is based on the date your housing deposit is received and your answers to the housing application questions.

For more information, visit the Living Learning Experience Web page.
